Family cards fake, stop those who try to distribute them: Jamaat’s Taher
“The chief election commissioner has stated that such cards are illegal,” he said yesterday afternoon at a rally organised by Jamaat in his electoral area, Cumilla-11.
Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher has said the proposed family cards are fake and illegal, warning that anyone attempting to distribute them should be detained, as the act constitutes a violation of the election code of conduct.
"The chief election commissioner has stated that such cards are illegal," he said yesterday afternoon (23 January) at a rally organised by Jamaat in his electoral area, Cumilla-11.
A political party is trying to make a "new compromise" with India to return to power and sell Bangladesh, which the country's people, including 40 million youths, will not allow, the Jamaat leader added.
At the rally, Hasnat Abdullah, the Cumilla-4 candidate of the National Citizen Party (NCP), which is part of the Jamaat-led 10-party alliance, said freedom of expression must include the freedom to disagree, warning of signs of fascism.
