RAK Group donated Tk10 lakh to BNP Central Relief Collection Fund, but the donation money was given back to the company.

Syed AK Ekramuzzaman of RAK Group became an independent MP of Brahmanbaria-1 constituency, contesting the 12th parliamentary elections held in 7 January 2024.

In November 2023, BNP expelled Chairperson Khaleda Zia's advisor Syed AK Ekramuzzaman on charges of 'activities against the discipline of the party' after he collected nomination paper to run the 12th national election, which was boycotted by BNP.

Ekramuzzaman, who is a citizen of Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria, contested the 8th parliamentary election as an independent candidate and the 9th and 11th parliamentary elections with 'sheaf of paddy' symbol, nominated by BNP.
