BNP names candidates for 4 Gazipur seats
Candidates for 2 seats yet to be announced
The BNP has announced its primary list of candidates for the upcoming national election, including nominees for four constituencies in Gazipur.
The announcement was made by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at a press briefing today (3 November) following a meeting at the BNP chairperson's office in Gulshan.
Candidates for Gazipur-1 and Gazipur-6 are yet to be announced.
The nominated candidates are: M Manjurul Karim Roni, son of former state minister MA Mannan, for Gazipur-2; BNP Central Committee Health Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Islam Bacchu for Gazipur-3; Shah Riazul Hannan, son of former minister of Jute Brigadier General (Retd) ASM Hannan Shah for Gazipur-4; and former MP AKM Fazlul Haque Milon for Gazipur-5 constituency.
After the announcement of party candidates, leaders and activists of BNP took to social media platform Facebook to congratulate and wish them success.
In an immediate reaction after the announcement, Gazipur-2 nominated candidate M Manjurul Karim Roni said, "My nomination is a reflection of the respect and love people have for my father, Mannan, a leader of the land and people of Gazipur."
"I hope, with everyone's support, the people of Gazipur‑2 will once again bring victory to the paddy sheaf symbol with a huge margin, just as they did for my father," he added.
Shah Riazul Hannan, nominated candidate for Gazipur-4 said, "I am doing politics inspired by the ideals of my father Hannan Shah and the dream of Shaheed Zia."
He hopes that with everyone's love and cooperation, he will be victorious in the upcoming election.
