BNP leader Hafizuddin slams CA Yunus for ‘untrue’ remark on election timeline
The BNP has already pressed its case for Dec polls to the CA, says Khandaker Mosharra

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has disappointed the BNP by making an "untrue" comment regarding the national election timeline, said BNP Standing Committee Member Hafizuddin Khan today (1 June), criticising the CA for his recent remark abroad that only one party wants the election to be held by December this year.
Hafizuddin made the statement while speaking at a discussion organised by Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal at the National Press Club, marking the 44th death anniversary of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, reports UNB.
He also urged the government to promptly hold the national election as the elected parliament will execute all reforms and expedite the trial of fascists.
"Prof Yunus is a virtuous son of the country and its pride. All political parties have supported him and will continue to support him in the future, but he has disappointed us," the BNP leader said.
He further said they (the BNP) never imagined that a person like CA Yunus would speak untruths. "Even, he uttered it abroad. Going to Japan, he [CA] said that only one party, BNP, wants elections in December. Is this true?" Hafizuddin added.
The BNP leader claimed that 42 parties had earlier met the chief adviser, telling him they want the election to be held by December.
BNP's reasons for December polls given to CA
The BNP has already pressed its case to the chief adviser stating why the national elections need to be held by December, said BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain yesterday while speaking at a separate event at the National Press Club marking Ziaur Rahman's death anniversary.
Mosharraf said the party, after being invited by the chief adviser last month to explain its preference for a December election, had stressed that the winter months provide the most conducive environment for conducting polls and help thwart potential conspiracies by elements linked to the "fallen dictatorship."
"The longer the elections are delayed, the more the allies of the fallen dictatorship will conspire at home and abroad. Some signs of conspiracy are being seen already," he added.
