Attack on Nur a warning for all if reforms stall: Hasnat
"The same fate awaits us if we cannot change the system," he said.

The recent attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur should be taken as a warning for all political actors, National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organiser (South) Hasnat Abdullah said today (30 August).
"What happened to Nur bhai yesterday is a message for us. The same fate awaits us if we cannot change the system. We call this change 'reform'. For that, we must remain united," he said while addressing a meeting at Chhatrapur School field in Brahmanbaria's Bijoynagar, organised by NCP.
Hasnat's remarks comes a day after a clash broke out between activists of Nur's party Gono Odhikar Parishad and the Jatiyo Party in Kakrail. As tensions escalated, police and army personnel charged batons to bring the situation under control. Nur was injured during law enforcers' action.
Hasnat also said, "We are now being labeled as anti-election. BNP is talking about elections, but we are talking about three things — elections, justice, and reforms. We say we need elections, but we also need justice and reforms."
During his speech, the NCP leader praised BNP Assistant International Affairs Secretary Barrister Rumeen Farhana.
"Rumeen Farhana has been in politics for a long time. Although we had some disagreements, when she heard that we were coming to her city, she sent people to check if we were facing any problems. She even sent us some gifts. This sends a positive message for politics, and we appreciate it," Hasnat said.
