Cumilla-4: Hasnat Abdullah vows to rebuild 'broken state structure' after victory
He said that his priority would be establishing justice and fairness.
Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser of the NCP (south), has said he will work to rebuild what he described as a "broken state structure" after winning the Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) seat in the 13th national parliamentary election.
"This election was a fight against a powerful political bloc. But the people were with me. They had trust in me. That is why I have won," he said while speaking to journalists at Cumilla Town Hall ground this afternoon (13 February).
Hasnat, candidate of the Jamaat-led 11-party alliance from the NCP, added that his priority would be establishing justice and fairness.
"We will work to build a system where even my enemy does not face injustice," he said, stressing that efforts would be made to reform state institutions.
Describing the complete eradication of "fascism" as a core objective, he said his party, the NCP, is committed to ensuring accountability, maintaining zero tolerance for corruption, and restructuring the state framework.
Hasnat secured victory in the Cumilla-4 constituency, winning by a margin of more than 110,000 votes.
He received 166,583 votes and his nearest rival, Jasim Uddin, who ran with the Truck symbol, secured 49,885 votes.
The margin of victory stood at 110,136 votes.
