More than 150 killings have occurred due to intra-party conflict and struggles for dominance, the Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has claimed.

"A political party has forgotten history and is once again resorting to fascist behaviour," the organisation's Office Secretary Sibgatullah said at a protest march today (12 July).

Dhaka South City unit's began the rally at 11am in front of the Jagannath University and concluded in front of Mitford Hospital.

The event was presided over by the unit's President Helal Uddin.

Addressing the march, Sibgatullah said, "Yesterday's murder surpassed even medieval barbarity. A human being should not be capable of killing another in such a manner. It seems the entire country is gripped by extortion.

He further added, "If such actions continue, another July [uprising] will descend upon us.

"Students and the public will unite once again to build an unstoppable movement. Just as the people drove out fascist Hasina, they will expel the extortionists the same way."

He called on the public to unite against extortion and acts of terror.
