Police constable on 5-day remand in journalist Turab murder case in Sylhet
A Sylhet court today (18 November) placed police constable Ujjal Sinha on a five-day remand in the murder case of journalist ATM Turab, who was shot dead while covering the student movement on 19 july.
Sylhet Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court judge Abdul Momen passed the order this afternoon.
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Inspector Mohammad Morsalin, the investigating officer in the case, said police asked for a seven-day remand, but the court granted a five-day remand.

Sylhet Police Commissioner Rezaul Karim said the PBI arrested Ujjal from Dhaka last night.
"Ujjal was working in Dhaka Metropolitan Police. He was arrested with the permission of higher authorities," he added.
On 19 July, Turab, a correspondent for the Daily Naya Diganta, was allegedly shot by police while covering student protests in the Bandar Bazar area of Sylhet city. He died while undergoing treatment in hospital that day.
Later, Turab's brother Abul Hossain Mohammad Azraf filed a case over the killing against former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and 18 others. About 250 unidentified people were also accused in the case.
