Paduar Bazar U-turn closed after accident killed 4 family members in Cumilla
Confirming the development, Cumilla Sub-Divisional Engineer Adnan Bin Hasan said, “All vehicles will now have to use the Doyapur U-turn in Sadar South Upazila until further notice”

Authorities have temporarily closed the Paduar Bazar U-turn on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway following a fatal accident that killed four members of a family and injured three others in Cumilla yesterday (22 August).
Cumilla Mainamati Highway Crossing Police Outpost Sub-Inspector Md Anisur Rahman said a speeding lorry lost control and rammed into a car at the U-turn, leaving four passengers dead on the spot. Three passengers of a nearby CNG-run autorickshaw were also injured in the crash.
CCTV footage of the incident shows the lorry driver losing control and the vehicle overturning as the driver braked and tried to stop to avoid collisions with the car making u-turn and a Hanif Paribahan bus coming from the opposite direction on the wrong side of the road.
The deceased in the incident are Mohammad Omar Ali, 80, his wife Nurjahan Begum, 65, their elder son Abul Hashem, 50, and younger son Abul Kashem, 45 — all residents of Hossainpur village of Barura upazila in Cumilla.
Abul Kalam, the brother of the deceased Omar Ali, has filed a case against the drivers of the Hanif Paribahan bus and the lorry, and several other unidentified individuals, at Cumilla Sadar South Police Station. The bus was involved in the accident by coming from the wrong direction.
In response to the accident, authorities have temporarily closed the Paduar Bazar U-turn. The decision was made after officials of the Army, Highway Police, and the Roads and Highways Department visited the spot.
Confirming the development, Cumilla Sub-Divisional Engineer Adnan Bin Hasan said, "All vehicles will now have to use the Doyapur U-turn in Sadar South Upazila until further notice."
A high-level meeting on road safety and traffic management will be held at the DC office on Sunday, where further decisions are expected over the U-turn, he added.
