4 killed as lorry overturns, crushes two cars on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Cumilla

At least four people were killed today (22 August) when a lorry overturned and crushed two private cars and a CNG-run autorickshaw on the Dhaka–Chattogram highway near Cumilla's Paduar Bazar area.
The accident occurred around 12:15pm at the Paduar Bazar U-turn, confirmed Iqbal Bahar Majumder, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mainamati Highway Police Station.
The deceased include three men and a woman. Their identities could not be confirmed immediately, police said.
According to locals, the lorry toppled while making a u-turn and fell onto a private car and an autorickshaw waiting nearby. Another private car was also damaged in the incident.
Highway police and fire service personnel rushed to the scene after being informed and launched a rescue operation.
"We are at the scene and the rescue is almost finished. Further details will be shared once the operation is complete," said OC Majumder
