Honouring the legacy of Professor Hamiduzzaman Khan

A moving remembrance ceremony took place today at Hamiduzzaman Sculpture Park at the Summit Gazipur 464 MW Power Plants site, honoring the late Professor Hamiduzzaman Khan, Bangladesh's eminent sculptor and artist, who passed away on 20 July 2025.
Muhammed Aziz Khan, PBM, Founder Chairman of Summit Group of Companies and a close friend of the artist, recalled how Hamiduzzaman transformed metal scraps from the power plant into Bangladesh's largest sculpture park. "His gentle hands turned those metal scraps into art, and he created the country's largest sculpture park. He showed us how art and industrialisation complement each other," he said.
The programme began with a guided tour of the park, led by sculptor Ivy Zaman, wife of Prof. Hamiduzzaman Khan, followed by reflections from several distinguished artists and a note of thanks from Maj. Gen. Dr. Monirul Islam Akhand (Retd), Managing Director of Summit Power Limited.
The Hamiduzzaman Sculpture Park, inaugurated in 2019, is Bangladesh's first of its kind, housing 86 sculptures. Prof Khan is remembered for works such as "Remembrance 71" and for his depictions of the heroic Muktijoddha, Birds, and Freedom.
