There will be no concession if any complaint comes against a police office, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad Ali said today (28 November).

"You have to accomplish your responsibilities in such a way that no complaint comes to me against any one of you. I do not want to take action against anyone. But if any complaint comes, there will be no concession," he said while exchanging views with OCs of 50 DMP police stations at the conference room of DMP headquarters.

He also directed all police stations under his jurisdiction to brighten the image of police through their work.

"Police stations are hubs of police services. Officers-in-charge of all police stations under the DMP have to work and provide proper services to the people to brighten the image of the police force," he said.

"You are the ones who take legal actions. All police activities are centred on the police stations. You have a lot of responsibilities. You have to discharge your responsibilities properly," he said.

The police's image has been tarnished due to some ambitious police officials in the past, he said.

The DMP commissioner said the police have to earn the trust of the people by serving them through good behaviour.

Stressing the importance of increasing the relationship between the police and the people, he said, the more relationships you build with the people, the more information you will get.

"If you get more information, you can take action for crimes," he opined.

He also ordered the cases to be settled through proper and fair investigation.

Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Faruk Ahmed, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick, Additional Police Commissioner (CTTC) Md. Masud Karim, Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement)  Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, concerned Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners and Officers-in-Charge of all DMP police stations were present in the meeting.
