Strict action against corrupt officers: Dhaka range DIG warns police members

Dhaka Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rezaul Karim Mallick has warned that strict legal action will be taken against any police personnel found involved in corruption or irregularities.
"I will not tolerate this in any way. No kind of financial corruption or irregular conduct will be accepted. If I receive any report that you are involved in any irregular or immoral activity, special measures will be taken. I will not give even an iota of concession in this regard," he said.
DIG Mallick made the remarks while addressing police members as the chief guest at a special welfare meeting held at the Faridpur Police Lines today (15 July).
He urged police personnel to serve the public with sincerity and integrity.
"You are here to serve the people, to ensure their welfare and maintain peace and order. Always remember, our duty is to serve. Make sure that no service recipient leaves without receiving assistance. It will be a serious failure if anyone comes to see you and has to return without meeting you," he said.
He added, "You must extend full cooperation to anyone who comes to you for help. Officers-in-charge of every police station must take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of people's lives and property. Constant vigilance is required to ensure law and order is not disrupted in any way."
DIG Rezaul also commented on the role of the police under previous governments.
"Earlier, the fascist government had turned the police into a party force. I myself have been a victim of torture and neglect for 18 years. The current police must act as servants of the people," he said.
During the event, DIG Rezaul handed over gifts to the families of seven martyrs of the July movement in Faridpur.
Faridpur Superintendent of Police Md Abdul Jalil, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Shamsul Azam, and officers of various ranks from the district police were also present.
Later, the DIG inaugurated the newly constructed Multipurpose Hall (Kalyan Shed) at the Police Lines.
