Newly elected Jucsu leaders sworn in
Family members of July martyrs Alif Ahmed Siam and Shraban Gazi, along with the wife of martyr Mizanur Rahman, were present on the occasion.

The newly elected leaders of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (Jucsu) were formally sworn in today (18 September).
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Senate Hall of the university's old administrative building, where Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan administered the oath.
Family members of July martyrs Alif Ahmed Siam and Shraban Gazi, along with the wife of martyr Mizanur Rahman, were present on the occasion.
The programme began with recitations from the Holy Quran, the Bhagavad Gita, the Holy Bible, and the Tripitaka.
It was followed by a one-minute silence in memory of Jannatul Ferdous Moumita, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, who died of illness while working during the vote-counting process of the Jucsu election.
Speaking at the event, the vice-chancellor said, "The mass uprising of 2024 was the restoration of democracy. Democracy, which had disappeared from Bangladesh, is being revived through Ducsu and Jucsu. Holding this election creates a possibility for national-level elections, and Jahangirnagar has made an attempt at that on a smaller scale."
He further urged the newly elected leaders to uphold their commitment.
"Jucsu was formed to implement promises. I ask you for just one commitment, nothing stands above Jahangirnagar, and above that, the country itself. If you can keep this pledge in mind, no form of narrowness will ever touch you," he said.
