Chief adviser 'brought divine instruction from London' for February polls: Nasiruddin
If any election is to be held, it must be a Constituent Assembly election, he says

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus went to London, "performed sijdah and brought divine instruction" of holding the national election in February, National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary said today (16 August).
"He has no concern for the people of Bangladesh. He went to London, offered sijdah there, and brought divine instructions [ohi] for a February election. We say sijdah must be to the people of Bangladesh," Nasiruddin said at a discussion meeting titled "Constituent Assembly Election in Implementation of the July Charter" at the party's temporary office in the capital's Banglamotor.
The NCP leader stressed that if any election is to be held, "it must be a Constituent Assembly election".
He further said that many members of the National Consensus Commission have also "prostrated at various Gulshan clubs", which, he claimed, has left them confused about implementing the July Charter.
"Those who did sijdah in London must change their Qibla towards the people," he said.
Criticising the manner in which the July Declaration was announced, he said, "It should have been declared alongside the people. Instead, it was declared with political parties, which was a betrayal."
He claimed that "the only solution to the current crisis in Bangladesh is a Constituent Assembly election".
Mentioning that BNP founder Ziaur Rahman himself had issued an ordinance for a Constituent Assembly, Nasiruddin said, "Yet these illiterate people who claim to follow Zia's politics never mention it."
Indirectly pointing to BNP's acting chairperson Tarique Rahman, he said, "If he does not learn from history, he will have to remain abroad permanently and continue doing politics online."
He said the country has become independent, and politics must be done by coming to the people. "Then the people will accept you," he added.
Nasiruddin also rejected allegations that his party had sought to secure 30 parliamentary seats through negotiations.
"Such lies are astonishing. We want a Constituent Assembly election. If BNP wishes to take seats through taking part in the Constituent Assembly, they are welcome," he said.
