NBR appoints PricewaterhouseCoopers to implement National Single Window

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Sunday appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers to develop a framework for the implementation National Single Window in Bangladesh.

PricewaterhouseCoopers will also fulfill financial and technical requirements of the project, said a press release.

NBR Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said, "The National Single Window for trade will benefit Bangladeshi traders significantly by reducing time and cost of trading. The average processing time for imports and exports is expected to be reduced substantially."

The World Bank-funded project is aimed at adopting a user friendly system that streamlines and automates procedures for all international trade related permits, licenses and custom declarations.

Once implemented, the National Single Window will enable traders to submit all their trade-related documents on a single digital platform instead of relying on various government agencies, thereby cutting down on paperwork and facilitating trade.

"The National Single Window will definitely be a win-win for both the government and the business fraternity as it will boost ease of doing business and enable Bangladeshi traders to compete with global trading giants," said Mamun Rashid, managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Bangladesh.

PricewaterhouseCoopers has a network of firms in 157 countries with more than 276,000 people delivering assurance, advisory and tax services.
