Campaign at educational institutions planned to promote 'Yes' vote in referendum
Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Dr Ali Riaz said the referendum would reflect the aspiration to dismantle a fascist state structure and establish a truly democratic system through state reform.
A campaign will be run at all educational institutions across the country to encourage students to vote "Yes" in the upcoming referendum scheduled for 12 February.
The decision was taken at a meeting held today (18 January) at the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the secondary and higher education division and the technical and madrasah education division of the Ministry of Education, the National University and the UGC.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Dr Ali Riaz said the referendum would reflect the aspiration to dismantle a fascist state structure and establish a truly democratic system through state reform.
Riaz, who is also the chief coordinator of the awareness campaign of government for referendum, said there is no alternative to a "Yes" verdict in the referendum to establish a humane and democratic state.
As part of the campaign, leaflets and booklets titled "Yes for change" will be distributed among students.
Documentary films, video clips and songs on the referendum will be released on mobile platforms and university social media platforms. Banners, festoons and stickers will also be displayed at universities and colleges.
Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider, UGC Chairman SMA Faiz, Secondary and Higher Education Secretary Rehana Parvin, Technical and Madrasah Education Secretary Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, National University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah and UGC Member Professor Mohammad Tanjimuddin Khan were present at the meeting.
