Milestone tragedy: Missing woman identified by DNA, laid to rest
While young Ohi was found safe, Priya vanished in the chaos, her fate unknown until forensic confirmation four days later.

A woman who went missing after the tragic Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College campus premises in Dhaka's Uttara has been identified through DNA testing and laid to rest in her village home today (25 July).
Afshana Akhter Priya, 30, accompanied her son -- Afsan Ohi, 9, a third-grade student -- to school on Monday (21 July). After dropping him off in class, she waited in the parent's room.
In the ensuing panic after the jet crash, many parents ran to rescue their children. While young Ohi was found safe, Priya vanished in the chaos, her fate unknown until forensic confirmation four days later.
Afshana's brother-in-law Hasibul Hasan said Priya's identity was confirmed yesterday (24 July) after DNA samples were given by her parents -- Abbas Uddin and Minu Begum -- on 22 July at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
"After hearing about the crash, we desperately searched for her and Ohi. We eventually found Ohi safe inside a school room, unharmed. But there was no trace of her."
He added that family members collected the body from CMH yesterday evening. Later that night, she was buried around 3am in her village home in Kaliakair upazila's Medi Ashulai village in Gazipur.
Priya was the wife of Abdul Wahab Mridha, a businessman from Medi Ashulai village in Kaliakair upazila.
