Man, nephew drown while learning to swim in Chattogram
According to family members and locals, neither of the two knew how to swim. They got down to the pond around noon to practice swimming and were reported missing shortly afterwards.

A man and his nephew drowned today (9 June) while attempting to learn to swim in a family pond at Bathua village of Ashia Union under Patiya upazila in Chattogram.
The deceased were identified as Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, 54, and his nephew Arian Chowdhury, 14, an eighth-grader at the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology School.
Arian lived in Raozan Upazila, where his father is employed. He had come to his ancestral home with his family to celebrate the Eid holidays.

After nearly two hours of frantic searching by relatives and neighbours, both were found in the pond and rushed to a nearby hospital, where on-duty doctors declared them dead.
Confirming the matter, Patiya Police Station Duty Officer Sub-Inspector Ataur Rahman said, "Upon receiving news of the drowning, a team from the police station was dispatched to the location. Further details will be available once the team returns."
