Man injured in landmine explosion near Myanmar border in Cox's Bazar

A young man has been seriously injured in a landmine explosion near the Myanmar border in the Kutupalong area of Ukhiya upazila in Cox's Bazar.
The incident occurred at around 5pm yesterday (8 March) while Md Shaker, 25, a resident of Kutupalong in Ukhiyam, was working in a field.
He was later brought to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) at around 12:30am.
Sajjad, who accompanied the victim to the hospital, said Shaker was working near the Myanmar border when the landmine suddenly exploded, leaving him critically injured.
He was later rescued and taken to CMCH, where the on-duty doctors admitted him to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department.
Dr Mohammad Shahabuddin Khaled, head of the department, told The Business Standard that the patient's face was severely damaged in the explosion.
"There are also multiple injury marks on different parts of his body. His life is at risk," he said.
He added that the injured youth may be shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) depending on his condition.
