Man identifying as 'SAD coordinator' threatens Kushtia police officer with transfer
Contacted, Sabbir denied the claims when contacted, saying, "I went to the police station for a land dispute settlement. But I never threatened to transfer the OC. After the matter was resolved, I left the station"

A man, reportedly identifying himself as a coordinator of Students Against Discrimination (SAD), has allegedly threatened Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mehedi Hasan of the Islamic University (IU) Police Station in Kushtia with a transfer.
The incident occurred at around 7:30pm on Monday when the accused, identified as Sabbir, visited the police station regarding a land dispute settlement, OC Mehedi Hasan confirmed.
However, when contacted, Sabbir denied the allegations.
OC Mehedi said, "A land dispute settlement took place at IU police station, after which some respected locals came to meet me.
"During this time, Sabbir, who claimed to be a coordinator [of Students Against Discrimination], was seen behaving aggressively outside, as reported by my officers and the villagers. I have informed my superiors about the incident."
"Officers on duty told me that Sabbir explicitly threatened to have me transferred.
"This is not the first time. He frequently intimidates police officers, threatening them with transfers to Khagrachhari and Bandarban. We have also received allegations that he has used his 'coordinator' identity to obtain financial benefits from people in the area. We are investigating all these matters," he added.
Denying the allegations, Sabbir said, "I went to the police station for a land dispute settlement. But I never threatened to transfer the OC. After the matter was resolved, I left the station."
According to sources, a group of residents from Sugribpur village under the IU Police Station area had gathered at the station to resolve a land dispute. Following discussions, all parties reached a settlement, and the meeting concluded.
Police officials said Sabbir, who was present during the time, questioned why so many people were present in the OC's office and started creating a disturbance.
Witnesses also alleged that after the villagers left, Sabbir threatened a local journalist present at the station. He then reportedly called senior police officials, including the superintendent of police (SP) and the deputy inspector general (DIG), and threatened to have the OC transferred.
Journalist Mohasin Kabir, who was present at the scene, recounted the incident.
He said, "When I asked about the disturbance inside the station, Sabbir threatened me, saying he would 'deal with me later'.
"When I continued questioning him, he attempted to harass me. As a journalist, I never expected such behaviour while gathering information."
