Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury conducted early morning inspections of four police stations in the capital today (27 February), leading to the suspension of a sub-inspector and a constable for negligence.

Starting his inspection in the early hours, he visited Mirpur, Darus Salam, Adabor, and Mohammadpur police stations.

Speaking to journalists during the visit, he noted that law enforcement officers often show laxity in duty during the early hours, creating opportunities for criminals to engage in unlawful activities.

"I have instructed the law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant and alert during this time," he said.

The adviser also confirmed the suspension of an SI and a constable from the Gulshan police station for negligence.

He emphasised that maintaining law and order requires officers to stay alert at all times.

Responding to questions from reporters, he said, "Law enforcement agencies must ensure that people can sleep peacefully and move freely without fear."

To monitor the security situation, officers from the ministry have also been assigned alongside the forces, he added.

When asked how long the ongoing joint operations would continue, the adviser responded, "The joint operation will end once the situation improves. However, other operations will remain ongoing."

The adviser began his inspection from his residence in Baridhara DOHS, travelling through ECB Square, Kalshi, Pallabi, and Mirpur-10 before reaching the Mirpur police station. He then proceeded to the Darus Salam police station via Mirpur-1, followed by the Adabor police station via Technical Mor and Shyamoli, and finally to the Mohammadpur police station.

During his inspections, he reviewed various sections, including reception areas and detention cells, of the police stations.
