Minister calls for strict response to violence, fraud in foreign employment
The workshop was attended by 32 executive magistrates of the Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions
Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister, Imran Ahmed MP, has directed the strict enforcement of the law to curb violence and fraud by brokers for foreign employment. Fraud in the name of giving jobs abroad is also part of human trafficking, he said.
The minister also said, "The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against human trafficking. The country's economy is largely dependent on remittances and the flow of remittances is increasing day by day."

He stated this after inaugurating a two-day workshop on "Conducting Mobile Courts to Uproot Labor Migration Crimes" organised by the Ministry and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for executive magistrates at the Bijoy 71 Auditorium of Prabasi Kalyan Bhaban on Sunday.
The workshop was attended by 32 executive magistrates of the Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions. Later, the workshop will be held with 58 more executive magistrates.
Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment, Dr Ahmed Munirush Salehin, presided over the event.
He said, "The government is committed to implementing the goals of the Global Compact for Migration. There is no substitute for proper implementation of legal provisions to implement safe labour migration."
Director General of the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training Md Shamsul Alam, IOM Mission Head Giorgi Gigauri, Additional Secretary of the Ministry Md Najibul Islam, and Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Md Khalilur Rahman also spoke at the event.
