ACC to sue former Premier Bank chairman HBM Iqbal and son

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved two separate cases against former member of parliament and former chairman of Premier Bank PLC, HBM Iqbal and his son Imran.
In addition, notices have been issued to Iqbal's wife and another son regarding unexplained wealth discovered in their names.
ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed the development today (9 October).
According to ACC, in the first approved case, Iqbal has been accused of amassing wealth worth Tk62.24 crore illegally and his son Imran is reported to have accumulated Tk5.03 crore illegally. Both cases have been approved under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004.
Additionally, notices have been issued to Iqbal's wife, Anjuman Ara Shilpi, and another son, Moin Iqbal, regarding their assets.
Shilpi is reported to have assets worth Tk10.82 crore, of which Tk37.67 lakh were found to be beyond her known sources of income.
Her son Moin Iqbal has assets worth Tk47.70 crore, with a net known income of Tk47.38 crore, leaving Tk31.50 lakh considered as unexplained wealth.
The ACC has directed both of them to submit their wealth statements under Section 26(1) of the ACC Act.
