Jucsu polls: VP candidate goes on hunger strike demanding mandatory dope tests for candidates
He added that his sole demand is the immediate enforcement of mandatory dope tests for all candidates and for the results to be made public transparently.

A vice-president (VP) candidate in the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (Jucsu) election has launched a hunger strike demanding mandatory dope tests for all candidates.
The candidate, Md Rabbi Hasan, a student of the 52nd batch in the university's Government and Politics department, began his hunger strike today (27 August) at 2pm in front of the Jucsu Election Commission office.
He is contesting as an independent candidate for the VP post.
"Although dope tests were mandatory for candidates, the administration has yet to take any steps to implement the decision. This is not only proof of physical and mental fitness but also a fundamental requirement to keep Jucsu free from terrorism, drugs, and unhealthy culture," Rabbi said while beginning his strike.
He added that his sole demand is the immediate enforcement of mandatory dope tests for all candidates and for the results to be made public transparently.
"This is a painful struggle, but essential for ensuring the quality of future leadership," he said.
When contacted, Chief Election Commissioner Prof Md Moniruzzaman said, "The commission does not have the authority to make dope tests mandatory. Our role is to oversee and conduct the election. Policy decisions rest with the university's vice-chancellor."
