JU makes ID cards mandatory for Jucsu and hall union elections set for 11 September

Jahangirnagar University authorities have announced that valid identification will be mandatory for casting votes in the upcoming JU Central Students' Union (Jucsu) and Hall Students' Union elections.
The directive, following recommendations from the Jucsu Election Commission 2025, was approved by the Jahangirnagar University administration, according to a notification issued this morning. Acting Registrar ABM Azizur Rahman signed the notification.
According to the notification, only regular and officially registered students will be allowed to vote in the upcoming elections. To receive a ballot paper, voters must present one of the following valid identity documents: a university-issued photo ID card, a library card with a photo attested and signed by the respective hall provost, or a hall index card bearing the signature of the hall provost.
The notification further states that students who have not yet collected the required identification documents must obtain them from the concerned authorities before the polling day.
Earlier, on 27 June, Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan announced 11 September as the tentative date for the Jucsu and hall union elections. The announcement was made during a view exchange meeting with student representatives from different departments and institutes and leaders of various student organisations.
