Jamaat highlights sustainable economic concept before investors

In the 'Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025', Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has highlighted a sustainable economic concept before investors, iterating its plan to building a prosperous and inclusive Bangladesh where peace and justice will prevail.

"Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami envisions a nation where people of all religions, ethnicities, and backgrounds coexist peacefully. Recognising Bangladesh's diversity as a strength, the party is committed to ensuring equal opportunities and security for all communities," Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Mia Golam Porwar told BSS at the summit venue at Hotel InterContinental in the capital.

He said through its dedication to democracy, social justice, and national progress, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami remains committed to building a prosperous and inclusive Bangladesh where peace and justice prevail.

He said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami aspires to build a welfare state inspired by peaceful Islamic principles and the good practices of the Western democracies.

"The party upholds democratic values, human rights, and freedom of choice, ensuring a society where all individuals, regardless of background, can thrive," he added.

As a political organisation, he said, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami rejects extremism in all forms and believes in progress through collaboration, not conflict. The party seeks to engage constructively with international communities to promote peace, development, and social justice, he added.

Golam Porwar said society cannot prosper without the progress of women.

"Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami integrates its vision of women empowerment with its ideological framework, balancing traditional gender roles with active female participation in social, educational, and political spheres. The party has a dedicated women's wing engaged in education, social work, and political mobilisation," he added.

He said women within Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami actively participate in elections and hold leadership positions within the party structure.

"Female candidates have contested elections, primarily in reserved seats for women in Parliament. The women's wing is engaged in political activism, charity, relief efforts, and community service, particularly in promoting family values and women's education. The women's wing has also been vocal against discrimination and violence against women, organising demonstrations and advocacy campaigns against incidents of gender-based violence," he said.

He said women members play a vital role in mobilizing female voters, particularly in rural areas, through door-to-door campaigns, community meetings, and social gatherings.

"The Representation of People's Order (RPO) Ordinance (2007-2008) mandated 33% female representation in leadership positions across political parties. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami exceeded this requirement, garnering widespread recognition for commitment to women's inclusion in political processes," he added.
