Jamaat condemns brutal killing of trader near Mitford Hospital

The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed deep concern and condemnation over the brutal murder of a trader named Mohammad Sohag near Mitford Hospital in Dhaka on 9 July.
In a statement issued yesterday (11 July), Mia Golam Parwar, secretary general of the party, strongly denounced the incident and demanded swift justice.
"According to several newspaper reports, some local leaders of the Chawk Bazar unit of Jubo Dal had demanded a large sum of extortion money from Sohag. Upon his refusal, they allegedly carried out this murder.
"The public is now questioning how safe people's lives and property can be under the leadership of a party that harbours such extortionists and criminals. If such a party were to assume power, neither the nation nor its people could ever be safe. This incident once again echoes the footsteps of fallen fascism," reads the statement.
Parwar called upon the authorities concerned to immediately arrest those responsible for the killing and bring them to justice under the law.
