IU students condemn attack on Kuet students

Students of Islamic University (IU) staged a protest yesterday condemning the attack on students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet).
The demonstration began at the university's Zia Mor last night (18 February) at around 9pm and marched through various key points of the campus before concluding at the university's Shaheed Minar.
During the protest, students chanted slogans such as: "We won't let our brothers' blood go in vain," "Crush the black hands of terrorists," "We demand justice for the attackers," and "Injustice will be washed away in a flood of blood."
Addressing the gathering, Nahid Hasan, co-coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at IU, said, "You have seen how Bangladesh's biggest Hitler, Sheikh Hasina, labelled students as 'razakars.' The student community responded by calling her the same. So, whether old or new forces attempt to target students and citizens, Insha'Allah, we will not spare them."
S M Sweet, another coordinator of the movement, said, "When the Chhatra League attacked during the July movement, we stood against them. Today, we will also stand against the current terrorists."
Referring to the Kuet incident, Sweet said, "While the interim government is tirelessly working to reform the country, certain groups are advancing their agenda to rehabilitate the Awami League through such acts. I leave this question for you all to consider."
Standing at the Shaheed Minar, Sweet reiterated their stance against political violence, saying, "Whether it is Chatradal or Chhatra Shibir — if any group engages in terrorist attacks, we will demand justice. Let the administration know that the movement that began at IU will spread across Bangladesh. Many ask who we are. Let me clarify—we are not those who protest only after Eid."
Demanding swift justice for the Kuet attack, he said, "The terrorists who attacked my brothers in Kuet must be brought under the law and punished immediately."
Speaking about the Chhatra League, Sweet made a declaration, "There is another announcement—if anyone hands over a Chhatra League leader to the police, they will receive Tk500 for each individual. Detain them and hand them over to law enforcement. We will collectively resist the Chhatra League."
