Investigation committee formed against ex-Shariatpur DC over alleged misconduct
The committee will be headed by Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, divisional commissioner of Dhaka
The Ministry of Public Administration has formed a three-member investigation committee to verify allegations of misconduct against Mohammad Ashraf Uddin, former deputy commissioner (DC) of Shariatpur, who was recently made an officer on special duty (OSD).
A circular in this regard was issued by the ministry today (22 June).
The committee will be headed by Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, divisional commissioner of Dhaka.
Md Nurul Haque, joint secretary (Discipline-2 Wing) of the Ministry of Public Administration, will serve as a member of the committee, while a representative from the Cabinet Division—of at least joint secretary rank—will serve as the member secretary.
According to the circular, the investigation committee has been formed to assess the authenticity of disciplinary misconduct allegedly committed by Mohammad Ashraf Uddin during his tenure as Shariatpur's DC.
The committee is tasked with conducting a thorough and impartial investigation and submitting a report with clear recommendations to the Ministry of Public Administration.
Earlier yesterday (21 June), Ashraf Uddin was made OSD following the circulation of objectionable photos and videos on social media, allegedly showing him in an intimate situation with a woman.
The footage went viral on Thursday night, sparking widespread controversy and public criticism across the district.
Sources said Ashraf Uddin left Shariatpur later that night in a rented vehicle, and he has since been absent from his workplace.
