ICT starts probe over alleged extrajudicial killings by RAB in Teknaf
Over the last two days, the investigation team met with families of victims to collect testimonies as part of a probe into crimes against humanity, genocide and extrajudicial killings during the July uprising

A team from the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has launched a formal investigation into alleged extrajudicial killings by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Teknaf, including the death of Municipality Councillor Ekramul Haque in a so-called gunfight in 2018.
Over the last two days, the six-member investigation team met with families of victims to collect testimonies as part of a probe into crimes against humanity, genocide and extrajudicial killings during the July uprising.
Confirming the matter today (6 May), ICT Prosecutor Md Saimum Reza Talukder said so many people were killed in the previous government's regime in the name of "war on drugs" in Teknaf.
"Such a scale of killing would not have been possible without high-level backing. Our aim is to hold accountable not only those at the highest levels but also the top government officials who supported these actions," he added.
The prosecutor further said the team will leave Teknaf today.
Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Giyas Uddin said the investigation team also visited the police station and gathered relevant information as part of their inquiry.
