A total of 454 people have been arrested so far for allegedly being involved in the mayhem that took place in Brahmanbaria in March.

Among the detainees' law enforcers arrested six more Hefazat activists and supporters in the last 24 hours until Saturday morning pushing the number of arrests to 454.

A press release issued by the district police on Sunday morning said the detainees were spotted after inspecting pictures and videos of the violence.

A total of 55 cases have been filed in this connection, cops said adding that 49 cases were filed with Sadar Model Police Station, four in Ashuganj Police Station and two in Sarail Police Station.

The cases were filed accusing 414 people and another 35,000 unnamed ones.

Activists and supporters of Hefazat-e-Islam staged a massive protest in Brahmanbaria from March 26 to 28 against the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh.

They attacked, vandalised, and set fire to several public and private establishments.

At least 11 people were killed in three days of clashes with law enforcement agencies.
