Police arrest 1.42 lakh in operations since 1 May
Police recovered 325 firearms and 91,22,996 yaba tablets.
Police arrested 1,41,989 people across the country in different operations between 1 May and 27 July.
Of those arrested, 39,267 were detained during the special drive and 1,02,722 in different cases and other operations, police headquarters said in a statement issued today (28 July).
Police recovered 325 firearms, 2,802 rounds of bullets and cartridges, 103 magazines, 46 cocktails, 2.25kg of gunpowder, 638 locally made weapons and 18 firearm components during the operations.
They also seized 17 pieces of equipment used to make weapons and bombs and 10,300 chocolate firecrackers.
The recovered firearms included 101 pistols, 35 shooter guns, 38 locally made guns, 19 revolvers, 92 guns, 15 pipe guns, seven shotguns, three rifles, two submachine guns, 12 air guns and one pen gun.
Police also recovered 91,22,996 yaba tablets, 9,080 packets of heroin, 4,095 bottles of phensedyl, 8,211 bottles of foreign liquor, 423 bottles of locally made liquor, 8,552 packets of cannabis and other narcotics.
A total of 17,066 cases were filed over the drug recoveries, while 24,821 people were arrested in those cases, according to police headquarters.
