The government will start issuing health cards to the injured of the July-August uprising from tomorrow (1 January 2025).

The health cards will grant the recipients access to free medical treatment at all government-run hospitals across the country.

Ministry of Health and Family Affairs in a press release today (31 December) stated, the distribution ceremony will be graced by the presence of the chief adviser, who will hand over the health cards to the injured individuals.

The event is scheduled to take place at 5:30pm tomorrow at the State Guest House Jamuna, it added.

During a meeting with over a hundred July-August uprising injured on 14 November, the government committed to providing lifelong free healthcare to those injured during the July uprising.

Professor Dr Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the chief adviser in charge of the health ministry, said, "The injured will be provided a unique ID card, and they will receive lifetime free services from all government hospitals. They will also get free services in private hospitals that have agreements with the state.

"Special beds will be allocated for the injured in all government hospitals, and a network of hospitals in Dhaka will be established," he added at the time.
