3 more die of dengue; 928 hospitalised
Cases near 70,000 mark
Three more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till this morning (30 October), raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 278 this year.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 928 new dengue patients were hospitalised during this period, pushing the total number of cases this year to 69,356.
Among the new deaths, two occurred at Mugda Medical College Hospital and one at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Currently, 994 patients are receiving treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka, while 2,844 patients are being treated across the country.
The DGHS report further shows that 61.8% of this year's patients are male, while 38.2% are female. Among the fatalities, 53.2% were men and 46.8% were women.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives, with a total of 101,214 cases and 100,040 recoveries recorded across the country.
