6 children die from measles and measles-like syndrome in 24 hours

Six children died from measles and measles-like syndrome between 8am yesterday (4 May) and 8am today (5 May), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of these, 154 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles.
So far this year, at least 54 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh. In addition, 259 children have died with symptoms consistent with measles.
DGHS data shows that between 15 March and 5 May, a total of 5,726 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
According to the latest health bulletin, 42,979 suspected measles cases have been identified nationwide. Of these, 26,368 patients have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
