Govt yet to bring drug abuse and corruption under control: Home adviser
When asked whether there are any statistics to support the government's frequent claim that drug abuse is on the decline, the home adviser said, “I have never made such a claim”

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said the government has not been able to bring drug abuse and corruption under control.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Secretariat today (25 June), ahead of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the adviser made the remarks in response to a question from journalists.
When asked whether there are any statistics to support the government's frequent claim that drug abuse is on the decline, the home adviser said, "I have never made such a claim."
"There are two things we have not been able to control – one is drugs, the other is corruption. Law and order is in good shape, but I have never said that we have reduced drug abuse. We need your help and cooperation to bring this under control," he added.
