Govt appoints new UNOs in 166 upazilas
The ministry has instructed all newly appointed officers to join their workplaces by the afternoon of 30 November
The interim government today (26 November) appointed new upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) in 166 upazilas as part of an administrative reshuffle ahead of the 13th parliamentary national election.
This move follows the recent transfer of several district commissioners, selecting the new UNOs from officials holding the rank of senior assistant secretary, according to eight separate notifications published by the Ministry of Public Administration.
The notifications stated that the ministry has delegated Section 144 powers under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, to the appointed officers so that they can perform duties as executive magistrates within their respective jurisdictions.
The ministry has instructed all newly appointed officers to join their workplaces by the afternoon of 30 November. "Failure to join by the deadline will be considered released [stand-relieved] from their current posts, whether training or workplace," it added.
The ministry also directed any officer whose workplace has already changed to submit their joining letter with the updated office name and address.
