Gold price cut by Tk2,216 per bhori a day after hike
22-carat gold now costs Tk2,20,858 per bhori.
The price of 22-carat gold was cut by Tk2,216 per bhori today (28 July), a day after it was raised by the same amount.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) announced the revised rates in a notice issued this morning, with the new prices taking effect from 10am.
Under the revised rates, 22-carat gold costs Tk2,20,858 per bhori, including VAT.

The price of 21-carat gold was reduced by Tk2,100 to Tk2,10,943 per bhori, while 18-carat gold fell by Tk1,750 to Tk1,81,200.
The price of traditional gold was cut by Tk1,458 to Tk1,48,016 per bhori.
On Monday, Bajus had raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,216 to Tk2,23,074 per bhori, including VAT.
Bajus said the revised prices would remain effective at all jewellery shops until further notice. Making charges will vary depending on the design of the ornament.
It said VAT was already included in the selling prices of gold and silver ornaments and could not be charged separately.
Existing rules on making charges, VAT and deductions for stones will remain unchanged for the exchange and purchase of ornaments, it added.
Silver prices were also reduced today. The price of 22-carat silver fell by Tk59 to Tk4,607 per bhori, while 21-carat silver dropped by Tk175 to Tk4,374.
The price of 18-carat silver was reduced by Tk116 to Tk3,791 per bhori, while traditional silver fell by the same amount to Tk2,858.
