Gazipur City Corporation sells beef at Tk500 per kg for low-income people
Residents were limited to purchasing one kilogram each

Gazipur City Corporation sold beef at Tk500 per kilogram to low-income residents today (27 March), enabling approximately 4,500 families to enjoy a beef meal.
According to City Corporation sources, eleven cows were slaughtered at eleven locations across eight regions of the city, and the meat was sold at the subsidised price. Residents were limited to purchasing one kilogram each.
People lined up to buy the affordable beef, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to provide a special meal for their families.
Asia Khatun, a resident of Joydebpur, mentioned her husband's illness and her inability to afford beef at regular market prices, thanking the city corporation for the initiative.
Gazipur City Corporation Administrator and Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury said many low-income residents in Gazipur are unable to regularly afford beef due to its high cost.
"With this initiative, aimed specifically for the 27th of Ramadan, the corporation ensured that those in need could enjoy beef at a lower price," he added.
