Science and Technology minister, Rosatom DG discuss Rooppur plant progress, grid supply
They discuss completing the plant’s remaining work and supplying its electricity to the national grid.
Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam yesterday (27 August) held a bilateral meeting with Andrey Rozhdestvin, director general of Rosatom Energy Projects Joint-Stock Company, in Washington, DC.
They discussed the progress of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, completing its remaining work and the technical and coordination measures needed to supply electricity generated by the plant to the national grid as soon as possible, according to a press release issued by the ministry.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in nuclear fuel and the energy sector.

Anam stressed the need for more effective coordination among all parties concerned to complete the remaining work properly and quickly.
He said Rooppur would play an important role in meeting Bangladesh's growing electricity demand, ensuring energy security and supporting long-term sustainable development.
Rozhdestvin briefed the minister on the progress of the Rooppur project and expressed interest in working closely with Bangladesh to advance its different stages according to the planned schedule.
The meeting also covered the peaceful use of nuclear energy, nuclear power generation, technical cooperation, skilled workforce development and further cooperation in the energy sector.
Rosatom Energy Projects is a subsidiary of Russia's state atomic energy corporation Rosatom.
