At least 15 people were reportedly injured during the clashes
Police fired teargas shells and sound grenades to stop clashes between the students of Dhaka College and Dhaka City College in the capital's Science Lab today (20 November), reports Prothom Alo.
At least 15 people were reportedly injured during the clashes that started around 3pm and were ongoing till 5:30pm.
Earlier, City College students blocked the roads in the area, creating long tailbacks and causing sufferings for commuters and locals.
"Tension arose as the Dhaka College students took position on the street in front of the City College gate and threw stones this noon, following a previous conflict," DMP Dhanmondi Zone Assistant Commissioner Shah Mostafa Tariquzzaman told The Business Standard.

Members of the Bangladesh Army and police have been deployed in the area.
According to police, clashes ensued between the two groups of students since noon with chase and counter-chase ongoing at intervals.
Shah Mostafa Tariquzzaman told Prothom Alo that a few students of the colleges got into a scuffle yesterday in the Science Lab area over boarding a bus.
"Due to this, the students of Dhaka College vandalised City College today. When this news spread, the students of City College came out on the streets around 3:30pm. Both sides took position in the Science Lab area and started throwing brickbats at each other," Tariquzzaman said.
Students of the colleges had previously clashed in October, prompting City College authorities to announce a closure for 20 days.
The college reopened yesterday, according to a statement signed by City College Principal (acting) Prof Kazi Neyamul Haque.
