A joint team of National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Customs Intelligence has seized a large quantity of undeclared restricted items valued Tk4.01 lakh from a passenger arriving from Dubai at Shah Amanat International Airport this morning (8 November).
The passenger was identified as Mohammad Gias Uddin of Fatikchhari, Chattogram.
The operation was conducted at the customs hall after Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG148 landed from Dubai at 9:40am, according to a press release issued by the Public Relations Officer, Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil.
The seized items include five cartons of foreign cigarettes (brand: Mond), six mobile phones, twelve pieces of imported beauty cream, and one laptop.
The confiscated goods were handed over to the airport customs authority for necessary legal action.
Authorities also noted that the items were seized for exceeding baggage allowances and for being prohibited or restricted under import regulations.
"Since the passenger had no prior record, he was released after being verbally warned in the presence of intelligence officials," the press release added.
