Five die as tree falls on easy-bike in Dhamrai

Five people died and two others were injured when a tree fell on an easy bike (battery-run three-wheeler) in Madartek area on Kaulipara-Mirzapur road at Dhamrai, on the outskirts of Dhaka today.
Four of the deceased were identified as Nuru, 65, of Baichal village, Shamsul, 70, of Kamarpara village, Majeda, 65 and Ayesha, 60, of Teligram village in Dhamrai.
Officer-in-Charge of Dhamrai Police Station Dipak Chandra Saha said the accident took place at around 2.15 pm when seven passengers of the human hauler were returning homes after participating in a programme of old-age allowance. Four passengers died on the spot while another died on the way to a hospital.

The injured were taken to Kawalipara Public Welfare Hospital, the OC said.
Local people said a tree fell on the vehicle while workers were cutting the roadside trees in the area.
