Five-day 'Jor Ijtema' begins tomorrow in Tongi
The event, organised under the supervision of Shura-e-Nizam Maulana Zubair Ahmad‘s followers, will end on 2 December with a final prayer session.
The five-day "Jor Ijtema", a preparatory event of the Bishwa Ijtema, will begin from Fajr prayers on the bank of Turag River in Tongi on Friday (28 November).
The event, organised under the supervision of Shura-e-Nizam Maulana Zubair Ahmad's followers, will end on 2 December with a final prayer session.
As per tradition, this "Jor Ijtema" is held approximately 40 days before the main Bishwa Ijtema.
It serves as a critical stage in the annual activities of the Tabligh Jamaat in Bangladesh. Thousands of participants, including senior religious scholars from both home and abroad, will attend the congregation.
Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh Shurai Nejam (Media Coordinator) Habibullah Raihan said, "During Jor Ijtema, we evaluate the year's activities, set new directions, and finalise the plans for the upcoming year."
Habibullah further said, "Participants have already gathered at the tin-shed mosque located at the northeast corner of the Ijtema ground. Senior religious scholars will deliver speeches, sermons, and guidance from a specially installed minbar."
"Arrangements for food, rest areas, prayers, khutbahs, and religious talks have been completed to accommodate attendees," he added.
Meanwhile, Harun-Or-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Tongi West Police Station, told The Business Standard, "Law enforcement has intensified security measures around the Ijtema grounds. Additional police are deployed around key access points to ensure a peaceful gathering."
