Ex-state minister Kamal Majumder hospitalised after falling ill in jail
The former state minister has developed gangrene in his left toe, which is why he was admitted to the surgery department.
Former state minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder has been admitted to the hospital after falling ill at Dhaka Central Jail.
The 75-year-old was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday evening (6 January), where doctors then admitted him to Ward 220 of the surgery department.
Confirming the matter, Inspector Md Faruk of the DMCH police outpost said Kamal is currently receiving treatment.
Prison guard Tofayel Ahmed, who accompanied him to the hospital, said Kamal suddenly became ill at Keraniganj Central Jail in the evening.
As his physical condition deteriorated, he was rushed to the DMCH.
He added that the former state minister has developed gangrene in his left toe, which is why he was admitted to the surgery department.
Kamal Ahmed Majumder was arrested from the capital's Gulshan area on the night of 19 October 2024.
