Chuadanga recorded the highest temperature of this season at 39.8 degrees Celsius this afternoon (28 March).

According to the Chuadanga First Class Meteorological Observatory, a moderate heatwave has been sweeping the district for the past few days, with temperatures rising, particularly after noon.

"At 3pm, Chuadanga recorded its highest temperature of the season at 39.8°C, with humidity levels dropping to 18%," Rakibul Hasan, senior observer of Chuadanga First Class Weather Observatory, told The Business Standard.

"The temperature has seen a significant rise compared to the previous day. On Thursday at the same time, the highest recorded temperature was 37.5°C, with 25% humidity," he said.

"The heatwave is expected to continue, and the temperature could reach up to 41 degrees Celsius over the next week. There is no possibility of rain in the near future, which means the situation could worsen," Rakibul added.

Intense heatwave impacted daily life in Chuadanga

Sharing struggle, Billal Hossain, a rickshaw puller from Gulshan Para, said, "The weather was tolerable over the past few days, but today's heat is overwhelming. Riding a rickshaw in these conditions is extremely challenging, forcing me to take frequent breaks in the shade. With fewer people on the streets, my earnings have dropped just before Eid."

Zahirul Islam, a resident of Stadium Para in Jibannagar, said, "Fasting has become very challenging due to the heat. The sun's intensity has increased suddenly, making it even harder to go outside. Unless necessary, I prefer staying indoors."

According to BMD's weather bulletin today, a mild heatwave is sweeping over the division of Khulna and the districts of Dhaka, Faridpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Lakshmipur and Feni and it may continue and spread.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, added the bulletin.
