Adaptation measures to be strengthened to tackle climate impacts: Rizwana
The government will intensify climate adaptation efforts to address the impacts of climate change, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Syeda Rizwana Hasan said today (20 April).
Sustainable and science-based programs will be adopted and implemented to ensure the livelihoods and safety of people living in coastal, hilly, and drought-prone areas, she said while chairing a meeting titled "Adaptation Initiatives in Climate Change" held on Sunday at the Ministry's conference room in the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Rizwana, also adviser to the Ministry of Water Resources, stated that the government is committed to initiating necessary adaptation projects.

She emphasised that adaptation efforts will be designed and implemented based on local needs and realities, in coordination with relevant government and non-government agencies.
To face the challenges of climate change, we must work together to build an integrated and inclusive adaptation framework, she added.
Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, Additional Secretary (Climate Change); Dharitri Kumar Sarkar, Joint Secretary (Climate Change); and officials from the ministry and NGO participated in the meeting. They shared views on current adaptation initiatives, challenges, and future actions.
