170 acres of land freed from 'illegal occupation' in BWDB eviction drive in Mirpur Beribadh

Approximately 170 acres of acquired land were freed reportedly from illegal occupation during a drive conducted by the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) in Mirpur Beribadh.
The second day of the eviction drive concluded at 5:15pm and it will continue the next day, according to a media release.
The drive was conducted in the presence of an executive magistrate with support from the district administration, police, Bangladesh Army, and other stakeholders, to remove illegal structures from the land acquired for the flood control embankment, namely, the Mirpur embankment.
Illegal encroachments and structures were removed along the flood control embankment from chainage kilometre 0.50, that is Abdullahpur Fish Market, to kilometre 8.50, which is Panchabati.
During the eviction, illegal structures near the NDE Ready Mix Plant, Tanvir Construction, Toma Construction, Sarmano Filling Station, Sharmin Group, Akij Ready Mix, Expert Car Wash, Uttara University and BGMEA University premises, Navana LPG Refueling Center, and Abdullahpur Fish Market, along with various other unauthorised shops and establishments, were demolished.
