Dhaka University, Japan’s foreign ministry launch online lecture series

East Asia Study Center of Dhaka University and the foreign ministry of Japan have jointly launched a two-session online lecture series titled "Japan Lecture Series" on Wednesday.
Addressing the beginning session of the seminar, Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka ITO Naoki said "When it comes to friendship and partnership between Japan and Bangladesh, currently, the focus is more on infrastructure development and business partnership under the BIG-B initiative including Matarbari deep sea-port, Dhaka Metro or Terminal 3 of Dhaka Airport."
"Once completed, these mega-infrastructures will change the face of the country and would have positive impact on the future of the country as well as the landscape of Japan-Bangladesh relations," he added.
"In parallel to these business and economic partnership, it is also important to foster mutual understanding and academic interactions. I hope this Japan Lecture Series will be able to contribute to the deepening of the mutual understanding of people of Japan and Bangladesh," ITO Naoki continued.
"In this year, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of independence of Bangladesh, and in the following year, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Bangladesh."
"It is my earnest hope that the interactions between our two countries will be enhanced in these milestone years," the Japanese envoy said.
